runs a grassroots program to eliminate the presence of
breast cancer in our society. Our efforts are to:

  • Increase funding for breast cancer research
  • Promote research into the cause, cure, and prevention of breast cancer
  • Improve access to high quality screening, diagnosis and treatment
  • Increase the involvement of those living with breast cancer on research and legislation

We are accomplishing this through the San Antonio Breast Cancer
Symposium (SABCS) Advocate Program, Action Network, Team Leadership
Training, Project LEAD®, Outreach, and educational programs.

Now in our 18th year, the Alamo Breast Cancer Foundation (ABCF) has provided scholarships for eligible breast cancer advocates to attend the San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium (SABCS). Each evening, the ABCF hosts the "Hot Topic Mentor Sessions" where some of the nation's leading breast cancer experts review the data and discuss the implications of the most compelling SABCS presentations. In these sessions, all attendees have a chance to learn from and engage with the expert panel.

Also, ABCF, along with the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) will host a special educational session that is open to all patient advocates attending SABCS. Registration and a light buffet dinner begins at 7:30PM, with the program running until 9:00PM. These presentations can be used as tools to local organizations.

On December 8th, 2015, the National Breast Cancer Coalition Fund (NBCCF), with support from ABCF, present the Project Lead®: Advanced Topics session. This continuing education program, focusing on recent developments in the basic science of breast cancer, will include presentations by experts in the field. The program is open to those who receive a scholarship from the ABCF to attend SABCS, as well as all Project Lead® graduates. This year's event will be held at the Marriott Rivercenter Hotel, third floor, Ballroom E. Registration, along with a continental breakfast begins at 8:00AM, with the sessions taking place from 8:30AM to 11:00AM, followed by lunch from 11:00AM to 12:00PM.
